Paperblanks' Blue Velvet notebook cover reflects the world of luxurious fabrics and European nobility. The cover draws its inspiration from the 15th-century dalmatian, which was the coronation garment and liturgical accessory of British monarchs. This particular dalmatian, which inspired the cover of the notebook, was owned by the Hungarian art dealer Marczell Nemes and arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1945. The fabric type is an ornate brocade with patterns woven with silver thread and a teardrop-like, artichoke-like plant pattern typical of the period.
