Tove Jansson wrote Moomin and the Great Flood as a way to comfort herself during the dark years of World War II. The Moomin House became a symbol of safety, protection and togetherness.

Today, with millions of people without care and security around the world, Moomin Characters, together with their long-standing partner the Red Cross, is raising funds in 15 countries for those in need. 1 euro from this product will be donated to the work of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) through your national Red Cross society.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin story, Moomin and the Great Flood, published in 1945. This heartwarming and adventurous tale tells the story of a family displaced from their homeland and their search to find a home. The story ends in a place that will become known as Moominvalley. The iconic blue house of Moominvalley is a place full of life. A place where everyone is welcome — a true symbol of togetherness. The door is always open.
