This year, the main character of the Christmas stamps is the bustling gingerbread men dancing on a hot baking sheet. The gingerbread men on the stamps are cheerful characters with their own personalities.

The graphic design of the new Christmas stamps was done by Mauri Kunnas' daughter Jenna Kunnas, who also works as an illustrator. "The color scheme of the stamps is clear and modern Christmassy. The perforation of the stamps nicely follows the shapes of the gingerbread," says Jenna.

Christmas has been a familiar theme for Mauri Kunnas since the book Santa Claus, published in 1981. Several Christmas-themed books have been written since then, and Kunnas is also known for the family animated film Santa Claus and the Witch's Drum . In total, Kunnas has written dozens of children's books, with a worldwide circulation of well over 10 million.

Mauri Kunnas's handiwork has been seen on Christmas stamps twice before, in 1996 and 2006. The children of Koiramäki appeared on stamps before that in 1994 and 1995. Kunnas has designed a total of 19 stamps, including the recent Christmas stamps.

The Gingerbread Parade, a timeless Christmas greeting, is sold in a sheet of 10 stamps.
